Wayne was born in the Rhondda Valley. He later moved to Bridgend and attended Bridgend Boys’ Grammar School (later Brynteg Comprehensive School) where he became Head Boy.
In the 1970s he obtained his LLB degree from London University and was presented with this at the Royal Albert Hall, by the then Queen Mother, who was Chancellor of the University.
In the early 1980s he was admitted as a solicitor and practised for a number of years in various areas of law including Family, Civil Litigation, Private Client and Conveyancing.
He set up his own solicitors practice and was an early adopter of technology including case management for conveyancing and automation of a debt recovery service. His practice also had its own Estate Agency department.
When he left private practice he had become the Managing Partner of a three-office firm.
On leaving legal practice he became a Senior Manager at the then Legal Services Commission (now the Legal Aid Agency). He was involved in the launch of Legal Aid Franchising and the introduction of Contracting.
He has a broad knowledge of all things legal aid and runs regular online and face-to-face legal aid supervision and other courses both for CPM21, and MBL.
Following his shifting career from practising law to management, he obtained a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) which included: Marketing, Strategic Planning, Creativity and Innovation, Financial Management and managing Human Resources.
Wayne then left the Legal Aid Agency and joined SA Partners (https://sapartners.com/our-story/) an international management consultancy specialising in Lean Thinking, Strategy Formation and Deployment. There, he became a Managing Consultant and Head of the Legal Services Team, which included Paul Jones.
In 2007 Wayne left SA Partners to set up CPM21 and shortly after, was joined by Paul Jones in that new enterprise,
Wayne brings to his consultancy therefore, a rather unique combination of experience of practising as a solicitor, working for the Legal Aid Agency and Management and Compliance Consultancy.
Wayne is an approved Lexcel and Legal Aid Consultant and has extensive experience of assisting firms with their compliance needs.
On a personal note, Wayne has been a committed evangelical Christian since the age of 14. He endeavours to live and work according to Biblical principles but admits to being far from perfect in that endeavour. He loves to travel in France and also spending time with and spoiling his three lovely grandsons as Tadcu/Grampa.
Fun Fact
At the age of 12 Wayne was walking with his grandparents in London looking for Downing Street. The street was then open to the public. He asked two gentlemen in suits for directions. They told him the way to get to number 10. One of them then asked whether we knew who we had been talking to. It turned out to be the then Prime Minister, Harold Wilson, who had flown back from the Scilly Isles to deal with a crisis. He later sent a signed photograph of himself and his wife Mary to Wayne’s grandmother. It took pride of place on her piano for a number of years.
