Joe is originally from Pontypool and after completing his secondary education he attended Cardiff University where he graduated in Law. He qualified as a solicitor in March 1984 and has spent most of his career as a solicitor in private practice, often providing legal advice on a pro bono basis.
He is a Higher Rights Advocate and has made several appearances at the Court of Appeal.
His interests include travel, particularly visiting Australia where his wife is from. He is also a keen hill walker and enjoys playing the piano.
He used to be a keen cyclist too and in 1977 he cycled from John O’Groats to Lands End. However, his cycling adventures are much more restrained these days.
