The Goverenement will consult on this in the Autumn.

Ken Clarke's announcement states the intention is to "create a stable and sustainable system".

This is usually code for cuts in fees that will spread the money further.

A sustainable system requires sustainable firms to provide it.

On can only hope that the Coalition are serious about:

"access to justice for those who need it most."

If they are looking for true cost saving they must not "shift cost" to another part of the system.

The absence of a solicitor from a Court Hearing can eleongate the hearing considerably and increase the cost to the Court Service.
